SDMs for Germany & Montenegro

Given the expected climate change, foresters have a difficult task to evaluate which species of trees will be suitable for appropriate locations not only at present but also in the future. However, in some cases it is not necessary to switch species but only the local ecotype. In this study we assess differences in modeled climatic niches among silver fir ecotypes (Abies alba) in Germany and Montenegro based on National Forest Inventories. This will also show the potential of using lager geographic datasets in niche modeling especially for species with a wide geographic distribution.
